Acupuncture Used to Rejuvenate Face
You may have heard about the use of acupuncture to cure minor aches and pains throughout the body. It is an ancient Chinese art that is supposed to re-route a person’s “chi,” or spirit, to make him or her healthier overall. But, have you ever heard of it being used as a substitute for Botox injections or a facelift?
Some proponents for acupuncture are saying that it can do everything that collagen-inducing drugs, which are injected into the face, can do. They claim that the tiny needles actually cause small damages to the muscle tissue below the face and initiate rapid collagen production. They liken the process to laser therapy.
However, those who oppose the acupuncture therapy insist that the “benefits” of the treatments actually come from the moisturizers that are used by the acupuncturists before a treatment. They also argue that the damage done by the needles would not be sufficient to stimulate collagen production.
Whether they are right or not, those patients who have received the treatments claim that their skin is smoother and tighter, with a decrease in the appearance of blemishes. For more information on this controversial process, contact a licensed plastic surgeon.
