It is important for those considering a face lift to understand that there are various issues that can occur during face lift recovery. The amount and type of recovery required varies greatly depending on the type of procedure and the area in which the surgery was performed. In general terms immediately after the procedure there will some level of mild to moderate discomfort or even pain; however this is not pronounced for most patients. Generally this discomfort or pain will decrease as the swelling subsides in a week or two after the procedure. In addition there will often be some bruising around the eyes, again it is normal if the surgical procedure was in the cheek or mid face area. Another important consideration after face lift surgery is that all strenuous activity will have to be curtailed for approximately one to two months, depending on how fast healing occurs. Staying in out of the direct sunlight and avoiding cold temperatures will also be important for everyone immediately after the procedure and for the next few weeks.
