Elective cosmetic surgery that corrects excessive or loose skin around the neck and lower part of the jaw is often considered part of a mini face lift, lower face lift or partial face lift. Since sagging skin on the neck does often contribute to the signs of aging, this type of surgery is common with both men and women. After neck surgery, as with any type of facial surgery, specific recovery issues and possible complications can occur, although they are relatively rare. In some cases liposuction is used in conjunction with a neck lift type of surgery to remove excessive fatty tissues that may be contributing to the problem. This extra procedure typically results in more swelling and slightly longer healing times than a simple mini face lift. However, since both processes are relatively minimally invasive there is little chance of serious complications or the excessive swelling and discomfort more commonly associated with a full face and neck lift procedure.
