Laser Surgery’s Popularity Increases at the Speed of Light

March 27th, 2009

According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the popularity of laser surgeries in recent years has risen exponentially. This, in turn, has caused the prices of these procedures to drop. Since 2002, the price of a laser treatment has dropped an average of $450.

Many patients choose laser surgery over a traditional cosmetic procedure, such as a facelift or a tummy tuck, simply because it is less invasive. Lasers do not require any incisions, and therefore generally have shorter recovery times. They also do not leave scars.

The number of women who use lasers for their cosmetic procedures has increased by 215 percent in the last three years. Men, who have rapidly come to embrace plastic surgery for their own sex have seen a 456 percent increase in requested laser surgeries. Lasers can be used for hair removal, blemish or acne control or even to slow the signs of aging, such as wrinkles or sagging skin. The laser can stimulate the collagen producing cells in the face, making it appear to be several years younger.
